Random pixels appear on iMac screen

I have a 27-inch iMac (late 2012, 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 32 gigs of memory, and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB video card) running El Capitan. Lately the screen has been going wonky on me, with random clumps of pixels appearing all over the place. Sometimes when these strange pixel patterns appear on the screen the computer crashes and spontaneously restarts itself. I have no idea what's going on. An example of the problem can be seen in the screenshot below.

Here are the temps I saw throughout the day while using the programs that most frequently seem to set off the pixels. The only time the pixels appeared today was when I was editing a piture in Photoshop (no other programs running).
