Does Quicktime Pro Standalone Support HDV playback?

Hi,

Does anyone know if Quicktime Pro Standalone supports HDV playback. I have Quicktime Player 7.1.3 which will not playback a Quicktime HDV file that was digitized in Final Cut Pro HD 5.1. I think I have to buy Final Cut Pro 5.1 to work with this file. I would like to be able to open in Quicktime Pro standalone and export images from the file. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

QuickTime uses the AIC codec (Apple Intermediate Codec) for playback of HD formats.
HDV codec is an export/import feature of the "Pro" apps and that codec is not included in the standard QuickTime install.
So. Open it using FCP or ask those that have it to use export using another codec so you can extract the "frames" you need.
I suggest PHOTO-JPEG or Animation codecs be used so you can open and edit them.

Ok, I may not be understanding but this is helping me get closer to answering my question. Basically what happened is they digitized video into Final Cut Pro off a Sony HDV camera and it created a raw source Quicktime file. Is there anyway to open the raw source file in Quicktime Pro without Final Cut Pro or will I need to have Final Cut Pro 5.1 installed to access the source Quicktime file. They want me to be able to open the raw file without any type of exporting on their end.

Thanks, therefore I need to have FCP 5.1 to read their file without any processing on their end. I also read this in another posting:

To view HDV 1080i NTSC footage using QuickTime Player 7.1.3 you want to make sure this file "AppleHDVCodec.component" is installed at this location:
/Library/QuickTime/

This file comes with installation of Final Cut Studio/Pro.

so that means as of now this function apparently only works with the installation of Final Cut Pro 5.1 or maybe iMovie HD.
