Missing pictures in MS Word documents when opened with Apple Pages

I have a doc file created with MS Word 2010. When I opened this file with Apple Pages, some of the images are missing. In place of these images I get a square frame with an X inside and a question mark in the middle. Other images in the same file are there.

Here is an example:

Is there something I can do to fix this automatically? I have potentially hundreds of MS Word files with images in them on my disk. It will take a lot of hours to check them all one-by-one.

No version of Pages is a Word clone, and Apple makes no promise about its ability to accurately import, or export that Word document. You are never working on the original Word document.

Open that Word document in the free LibreOffice v5.3.3 (or later) and see if all of your images are present. If not, then you are done. If the images appear in those Word containers when viewed in LibreOffice Writer, then resave the .doc as Word .docx (2007 - 2013). Open this .docx in Pages, and see if the original missing images are now present.
