iPhone 7 Plus Camera Flash doesn't work when 4K video is enabled

Had no issues with my camera flash until last week when it would not work even when manually set to On. Reset my phone but no change. Then remembered a few weeks earlier I had changed default video mode to 4K. Changed it back to 1080p and camera flash is now working again.

Can anyone else confirm they also get this issue on a 7 or 7+? Its annoying enough that to change video quality you have to go into the Settings menu rather than change it on the fly within the Camera app.

Seems that you haven't specified your problem but I did the following trials on my iPhone 7 Plus:

  1. Change the video mode settings to 4K at 30 fps
  2. Access Video mode of camera with Flash turned to On
  3. Access Photo mode with Flash turned to On

Both operations 2 and 3 could record and shoot with flash on.

My usual practice is to have a "Record Video" and "Record Slo-mo" combination of "4K at 30 fps" and "1080 at 120 fps", assuming 4K and 1080p are both a need for you. You may find this combination useful as they both consumes approximately the same space per time. If I am not mistaken, you can view the whole 1080p 120 fps video in normal speed in post.
