MacBook Pro & EPSON vs230 Projector over HDMI

Hello,

I have a MacBook Pro 15", late 2011 running 10.11.6. I am using an Insignia HDMI adapter for the mini display port, and running an HDMI cable into the Epson projector. The computer can see the Epson projector. When I go to Display Preferences, it sees the Epson and gives mirroring options as well. However, the Epson always says:

Source: HDMI

No Signal

It is the same with other Macs as well. (using an iMac to see if I can get different results) Nothing.

Also, the Svideo and VGA work perfectly.

Any thoughts?

I have seen this happen with several different (mostly cheap) DP to HDMI adapters. I would highly suggest purchasing a quality DP to HDMI cable (not an adapter that also requires a cable). I have had great luck with anything from StarTech (https://www.startech.com/AV/Displayport-Converters/mini-displayport-hdmi-cable-4 k-6ft~MDP2HDMM2MB).
