Why does my iPhone 7 plus keeps pausing while I'm watching online videos?

Every time I'm on the safari app and I'm watching a video it keeps pausing. Wether on I YouTube or any website that has a video and it's quite aggregating. Usually what I have to do for a couple of seconds of more video play is to press the home button to exit safari and then get back in. What can i do to fix this issue?

I have tried to restart the phone. I tried to delete my cookies and safari history. I have tried to restore my phone but this problem keeps reacurring. I read many discussion but haven't found any forums to help me with this bug. What to do!?

I'm having the exact same problem. I never had a problem on my iPhone 6 but as soon as I upgraded to a 7 plus it started happening. This is definitely a bug they need to fix on the next update it has nothing to do with internet connectivity because it happens on every single internet I get connected to and it happens when I'm using 4G too which is super fast and shouldn't give me any issues.

Newest update didn't fix anything still having the same problem, video fully buffered but video pauses I can spam play and it will continue to instantly pause only in safari. I'm being forced to use other browsers on the AppStore. This is annoying I didn't buy another thousand dollar phone to not be able to watch videos, do something apple.

Very Frustrating Indeed.... we have been having the videos buffering issues on Youtube and am observing this on all my apple products. This can certainly not be a connectivity issue since am having 1000 mbps fiber connection, and even with WiFi I can see the speeds up to 300 to 350 mbps... So request the dev to look into this and provide us with the update at the earliest

Hi I’m having the exact same problem, I used to make WiFi calls on my 6 through what’s app, now it just loses connection, so any video buffers sometimes on 3G 4g or WiFi, I have a 100 mbps WiFi, and I thought it was the handset, so I’ve had that replaced, but unfortunately I have the same isssues with the new 7. I’m on the verge of just cancelling and getting a 6, has anyone come up with some solutions ?

Hello Ramrey,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems you are having issues with watching videos in the Safari app, even after trying some troubleshooting. If you haven't already, please try your issue on a different Wi-Fi network or while on cellular data, and then follow the steps in these articles if this issue is isolated to your Wi-Fi network.

It usually is a connectivity issue: your Internet connection is incapable of keeping the phone fed with enough data to keep the video rolling. On high-resolution devices like these the problem can get worse cause it needs more data to keep the gorgeous display filled.

What to do? First off, try and get a bigger pipe to the Internet. Use a suitably fast Wi-Fi connection instead of the cellular link (unless of course you can opt for a blazing fast 4G carrier that outdoes the Wi-Fi). Use a speed checker such as Ookla's Speed Test to measure what your different link options deliver for real.

If that doesn't help or you have no suitable connectivity option, can try to watch lower resolution videos that the link you have can handle.
