If you're using Apple TV the only other service i'd look at is Channels. It will require an HDhomerun device and if you want the DVR functionality you would subscribe for that feature, with recordings going onto a computer or NAS. It would work in conjunction with an antennae to receive the OTA channels. However, If you're using Tivo you would need to use their hardware and it's not going to be compatible with ATV.

Yes. You would need the HDhomerun device, which is what the antennae would connect into and then thay connects to your router to broadcast the signal over the network. The DVR service is $8/mth I believe, and you would record into a computer or NAS. NAS is network attached storage, and this is any hard drive that can be accessed over a network. It's not something specific to Mac, but they do make the time capsule for this purpose.

the one youtube that explained all three hdhomerun said that the "prime", the three simultaneous recording one, is not compatible with apple tv. is this true? i just thought i'd get the prime since it's the biggest of the three. with regards to nas, i'm buying the 3tb time capsule. now isn't the external hd that i piggy back with time capsule, the nas? but isn't there also a hd that you piggy back to the hdhomerun for dvr'ing, nas also? from what i've read, the nas that piggy backs on time capsule, is i'm able to view or share the content of it over the internet. can the hd that's piggy on dhhomerun view or share it's content over the internet? i saw a youtube on tablo regarding being able to access and manipulate tablo over the internet, and even watch programing, live or recorded, your thoughts? my apology if I'm bombarding you with all these questions, you seem to know a lot about the matter. are you some kind of a "yoda"? haha!!!

All of them are compatible, you would just need to purchase the Channels app to interface with Apple TV. The time capsule would act as the NAS and if you subscribe to the DVR feature within the channels app then you would be able to view the recorded content on Apple TV along with the live OTA content. The prime also allows for a cablecard, but that is only relevant to cable subscribers.
