numbers app not working

My first impression agrees with Waynes—the Continue button is likely out of sight behind the Dock at the bottom of the screen.

To the two suggestions he offers, I would add this:

In the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, then click the button for Dock.

This will open the Dock preferences pane, which should be similar to the version shown in OS X El Capitan:

Check the checkbox indicated by the red arrow.

With this box checked, the Dock disappears from sight until you move the mouse pointer to the (bottom) edge of the screen, making it reappear.

With the dock out of the way, I suspect the Continue button will be visible.

PS: You may be able to move forward by clicking the Numbers Software License Agreement link visible in your screen shot. There should be an Agree button at the end of the agreement, which will either return you to the welcome window OR move you to the next page.

Could you post a screen shot of the Welcome to Numbers page you mention in your first post. It may offer some clues, and it's been a long time since most of us have seen it.

To take a shot of part of the screen and save it to your desktop:

• Place the mouse pointer at the top left corner of the area you wan to capture.
• Press shift-command-4. (The pointer will change fro an arrow to crosshairs.)
• Press and hold the (left) mouse button and drag down and right to make a rectangle containing the area you want to capture.
• With the crosshairs at the lower right corner of the area to be captured, release the mouse button.
• You will hear a camera shutter sound as the image is saved to your desktop.

To post an image to this forum:

• Place the insertion point where you want the image to be inserted.
• Click the camera icon in the tools at the top of the compose box.
• In the dialogue that opens:
• Click Choose Image.
• Navigate to your Desktop and locate the image file. (It will be named Screen Shot, followed by the date and time it was taken.)
• Click on the file to select it, then click Choose.
• Click Insert image.

After a short wait, the image will appear in your post.

also... if you can make the Numbers window smaller I am guessing the "Continue" button is hidden behind your dock. Hover the cursor over the top edge of the Numbers window until it changes to an arrow then drag down, now drag the window up

Have you tried restarting your Mac?

I suggest typing the "return" key on that screen since the default button is connected to the return key. See if that moves you "forward"
