How do I close Apple Pay? I am having trouble clsoing it with a double click and swipe.

I am having difficulty closing Apple Pay. It seems to open more or less on its own, or I am somehow triggering it in some way, but it pops up on my iPhone 7 (latest iOS). The I can't seem to close it. A double click and a swipe up doesn't do it, and then eventually it closes. I know the answer is bound to be simple, but the solution eludes me.

Check Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay. Undoubtedly you have Allow Access When Locked > Double-Click Home Button set "on". That sounds exactly like what you are doing hoping to shut down Apple Pay!

Consider turning off the above setting. The way I invoke Apple Pay is to unlock the iPhone and then use the Wallet app.
