my sim card is "unknown" to the iphone

hi,

unit - Iphone 7 plus 128 gb

ios - 10.2.1

my question is:

my sim card is "unknown" to the iphone, imessage only uses my appleID i cannot activate my imessage and face time using my number, it was working before i got back from a trip out of the country but upon arrival it suddenly turned like this,

sometimes i can make other calls and text to other non apple users,

i already went to my carrier provider to have my sim card replaced, but it is still not working

i also went to an apple service center, they told me to update my ios to the latest version, and it should be fine, but still i have the same problem

what should i do?

You could try the following if you have not already tried it which to reset the network settings on your iPhone.

Just follow the steps under Reset your Network Settings in the link below to Apple Support documents.

If your iPhone or iPad shows No Service or Searching - Apple Support

If you have a Apple Care + or the iPhone 7 Plus is still under warranty ( which it should be as they were released in September 2016 ) it might now pay to contact Apple Support to see if they can help to resolve your issue.

Or the last thing you could try is probably something Apple Support will ask you to do is to factory reset your iPhone.

Hi,

It's possible that the SIM card may be unsupported or not activated yet. Use this article to see if your SIM card is compatible Learn which size SIM card your iPhone or iPad uses.

If it's still not being recognized on the phone you may have to contact your carrier to activate the service.
