Small Dent/Scratch on iPhone7

My Device Specs:

  • Black iPhone 7
  • 32 GB Storage Capacity
  • OS Version: iOS 10.2.1 (14D27)
  • Summation: Black, 32GB iPhone 7 running iOS 10.2.1 (14D27)

Due to accidental damage, my brand new iPhone (by brand new, I mean it was purchased as a brand new phone on 2/25/2017 - 11 Days Ago) has a very small but noticeable scratch/dent on the back of the device. On observation, it appears to be a small, silver-ish white speck about 3/4 inch to the left of the Apple symbol.

I have an appointment on Sunday for one of the Apple Stores to look at it and HOPEFULLY repair it. This is only because I still qualify for Apple's Limited Warranty.

MY MAIN QUESTION IS THIS: With hardware damage like described, is there even any possible way to fix this? Is there some type of "filler" that can be put into the indentation (kind of like scratch-removal products for vehicles)? Or is this something that can only be fixed by replacing the back plate of the iPhone with a brand new one?

Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated! Even if you think your solution is "stupid" or "dumb", please still post it because it might be a good definition. The only stupid, dumb one is me for not having the phone protected when it fell on the floor.

It turns out this offers some fair amount of protection:

(You might look at the black case since you have a black iPhone. Sorry I cannot get its specific URL.)

This case offers a small side benefit to you: If you do not repair your dent/scratch, at least it will be out of sight.

On the other hand, if you have the slightest suspicion the drop affected the iPhone's performance, you should have that checked out immediately at an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center.

While it's always a little disappointing to buy something and incur damage soon after, it's important to understand what the manufacturer's warranty will and will not do for you.

If the iPhone has a manufacturing defect - like a non-functioning speaker or a faulty button or malfunctioning display that is a result of the phone being built incorrectly, the warranty will fix that for you. However, cosmetic damage is not covered under the warranty, and it is unlikely that the Apple Store will be able to cover that damage under the warranty.

I think you're on the right track in thinking about automotive body fillers or surface scratch removers. That will probably resolve the issue to your satisfaction.
