FDC Process

Hi all

I'm having constant hangs and slow-downs on my Mid 2010 Mac Pro in El Capitan 10.11.6, which has 16GB RAM, an SSD (with the system and apps on) and a HDD where I save all my documents. There's plenty of free space on both drives. It sometimes cures itself after a few minutes but other times requires a force shutdown. I typically have to restart once a day – whether I manage a proper restart or a force shutdown. Anyway, the reason for my post is that I've noticed a process in my Activity Monitor called 'FDC' which runs immediately when logging in and it uses 100%+ in the %CPU tab. It occasionally drops to a small % but goes back up to 100%+ within a few seconds. Does anyone know what this FDC process is?

I've checked other Macs I have access to but it doesn't appear on those. I've also created a new user account on my Mac and checked the Activity Monitor in that account, but FDC doesn't seem to appear in there. I'm probably barking up the wrong tree but thought I'd ask in case anyone else had come across it.

Thanks

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Okay, below is the EtreCheck report. My Mac has been running for around 18 hours since the last restart I had to do (most of that time it's been idle but with various apps open) and so far it seems fine, but I fully expect to have to restart it at some point today:

EtreCheck version: 3.1.5 (343)

Update! So Acrobat kicked back in again and Activity Monitor started updating too. My Mac seems fine again now. I had a message from my Fiery Command Workstation (a client to our printer RIP) that it had disconnected. The RIP was fine and other Macs using the same client were still connected. It seemed too much of a coincidence that the message popped up as soon as my Mac kicked back to life. I don't run Command Workstation all the time so it's not that that's causing the hangs, but maybe that's highlighted a problem?
