Hi. my html widgets are not working. Using widgets to enable popover video embed from high speed host. At the host site, the preview works. Host is providing cut and paste code. copying code into html widget. Copy is clean. But instead of the thumbnail, I only get a link. The link does not work. When I cut and paste the reference address in the code it works - voila, there is a pop up window and the video plays.

so it must be an iWeb issue. I used iWeb years ago, and until this happened, all was going well and fast. Simple website, only has these videos on it. Rest of hyperlinks working.

help thanks

iWeb widgets used code that was stored on the MoblieMe servers which were shutdown when iWeb was discontinued along with Mobile Me several years ago.

You should seriously consider migrating to a web app that is up to date with all the changes to HTML and actively supported. One that many migrated to is EverWeb because of it's very similar GUI and iWeb like drag and drop. There's a demo version you can try.

Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with leaving things alone.

It is called progress - iWeb has not been supported or sold by Apple for at least the last 5 to 6 years now ever since the MobileMe server shut down and iCloud was introduced.

You might have a good computer, but the Mac OS will update and with each update, iWeb will become more and more incompatible and unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about that - the only thing you can do is to keep one computer, where you can keep iWeb with an older Mac OS version so that iWeb will work.

What you can do is to update to software that is actively supported such as EverWeb - Old Toad has already posted a link to it.

If you do not want to pay, then there are lots of free online website creation packages, such as Wix.com, WordPress.com and Squarespace.com. Sure there are others out there too.

If you don't want to pay, then try one of these alternatives, or keep one Mac with an older Mac OS installed so that you can still use iWeb.

What do you expect with a product that have been discontinued for 6 years or so while the rest of the computer world have progressed thru 5 or 6 versions of the system. That's like complaining to Chevrolet that you can't get parts for your Corvair from their dealers.

You need to move into the 21st century and start using an app that is supported and up to date with all the current HTML advances. One that many here have migrated to is Everweb due to it's iWeb like user interface and drag an drop capability.
