Forgot passcode. Not paired, no reset option.

Hi there. My Apple watch (Series 1) is locked with a passcode, but it never gives me a power off screen as detailed in the support article. It just restarts when I hold down the side button. Is there anything I can do?

Hi


Follow these steps to erase your locked watch and re-pair it with your iPhone:


  • Connect your watch to its charging cable, with power connected.
  • Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider.
  • Press firmly on the display (do not try to slide the Power Off slider - just press down more firmly than a normal tap) and then tap on Erase all content and settings.
  • Re-pair your watch using the Watch app on your iPhone, choosing to Restore from Backup if offered the option.

As your Apple Watch is not responding as expected when pressing and holding the side button, it may help to first remove your watch from the charger and force restart it (by pressing and holding the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then releasing both buttons when you see the Apple logo).


Then replace it on the charger, connected to power, and try again to follow the steps in my previous reply.
