IPad Pro and Character Map

I have an iPad Pro and am trying to access special characters for individual fonts. Most people do this by using Microsoft Word and can access a character map by selecting Insert > More symbols > Private use area. I cannot find this feature with my Microsoft Office or anywhere on the iPad itself. Unicode is not what I'm looking for - I don't need basic font characters. I am looking for special characters for individual fonts such as swashes and glyphs. Any suggestions?

As far as I know, direct access of non-Unicode typographic features like you describe is not possible on an ipad. I'm not sure whether they are even supported for display when opening a doc which has them and was created on an desktop/laptop -- have you checked that?

For unusual characters in general I would recommend an app like Unicode Pad.
