Where is ducking in Garage Band?
Can someone suggest a work around for the absent ducking feature that was removed from the latest version of Garage Band?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 10.2.1, Garage Band

i'm afraid you're really stuck with manually setting volume automation points to bring the level of your background music up and down as needed in GB v10
(though worth noting: if you had version 6 ('11) installed and upgraded to v10, the older version that includes the Ducking feature was not deleted, it's within a folder in your Applications folder).
to set up a volume curve click the Hide/Show Automation button at the to of the track header list, make sure Voume is selected from thte track's popUp menu, and click within the track to display the automation line. from there double cick on the line to create an automation point and drag it up or down to raise/lower the volume at that point.
Man, that *****. How is it that Mac interfaces are getting progressively worse?
