message option under screensaver is greyed out

i had to reset my iMac with Sierra yesterday. During boot up, the boot sequence would stop half way and freeze there forever. Only way was to hard boot again by pressing the power button. Then after 2 times, it would boot completely. I decided to wipe the computer and factory reset. Did a reboot, unmount the drive, wiped it, quit then went to reinstall software. It did work fine but now, it is a minor issue but I am unable to change the message under the screensaver option. it is greyed out and I can not backspace it, or even move the cursor. Any idea?

I checked google, it seems that when I go to users/myname/.... I do not have a library option

Thanks for any help

Imac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Quit System Preference and open Finder. From the text menu select 'Go' > 'Go to Folder...'. Type or copy the following path and press 'Go'.

~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/

or alternate notation

/Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/ByHost/

Find the file that starts with "com.apple.screensaver." and move it to trash.

(The exact name contains a lot of numbers; "com.apple.screensaver.[numbers].plist")

Open System Preference and try again.
