Hi,

Are you saying that the number on the Dock Icon to indicate a new messages never goes away and also shows at least 1 ?

i.e. there are at least two ways of looking at the info as presented - either there is a missing messages you can't see or the dock badge is stuck with a miscount.

Try this.

Go to System Preferences > Notifications

Find the Messages settings and turn all of them Off, The Alert/Banner type, the Sounds and the Dock Bounce.

Quit Messages.

Re-open Messages.

Does the badge still appear ? If it does restart the computer as well.

Once Messages can be opened without the Dock Badge showing reset the Notifications for Messages.
