Macintosh classic screen issue

Hi all,

I've got a mac classic which I've had since 1993, built in 1990. Never had any issues. Used to run external 1mb ram boosters but I've lost them when I moved house. Now when I boot the computer up the screen is flickering and won't stabilise. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Also, I have an original dot matrix with it and have lost the cable to join them and cant seem to find any online that are garenteed to be compatible for both devices. Has anyone seen any.

Thanks, Nik

Hi,

Please note that all work inside a compact Macintosh computer is dangerous because of the high voltages involved, and must be performed by someone with the necessary expertise only. Dangerous areas include the CRT and several capacitors. Charges can remain in various circuits for a long time after the computer has been switched off and disconnected from the mains.

A flickering display is often related to a bad connection somewhere. In such a case, one would begin by disconnecting and re-connecting cables and modules. If that does not help, one could examine the boards with a magnifying glass in order to find possibly bad/cracked solder joints. Bad/leaking electrolytic capacitors can also cause problems.
