OPT + CMD to create alias not working in Sierra
The title says it all. Another thing that's not working for me since I updated to Sierra.
iMac (27-inch Mid 2010), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4), i7, 12 GB RAM, 2 TB HD

As per this article : macOS Sierra: Create and use aliases
Create an alias
Here is a list of all keyboard shortcut commands:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236
And here are Apple's instructions on how to create an alias in Yosemite:
https://support.apple.com/kb/PH19065?locale=en_US
Both include Command + L. It's been that way for some time.
Cmd+Opt-Drag still works in Sierra. You may have something installed that is incompatible with Sierra and is interfering. Some the the tablet software was initially incompatible and cause weird keyboard issues.
Try logging into another account, even Guest, and see if it works in that account.
Someone provided the answer elsewhere.
In Sierra you need to start dragging then press Command-Option. Then it works.
When tested in pre-Sierra systems, it would work if you pressed first then dragged and also if you dragged first then pressed. It's either a change in Sierra or a bug. At least there's a way to make it work.
Make Alias is cmd - l (L)
Again I'll repeat, the second way OPT + CMD is not working in Sierra. I can boot into Yosemite on an external drive and it works.
I've tried logging into another account, I've booted into safe mode and it's the same. I just reinstalled the 10.12.3 updater and still no change.
How about a tablet or some other software that affects the keyboard?
Or, perhaps it is the keyboard itself.
I checked to make sure all the keys worked with Keyboard Viewer. The Command key works with other modifiers, same with Option. No tablets. I've also tried using a different mouse.
FWIW, you can use command + option before or after dragging in Column, Cover Flow or List views. In Icon view you have to start to drag first. No idea why.
I'm having the same problem too.
THANK YOU. An hour of searching and I finally found your reply.
Thanks, that solved the problem for me.
Odd that they changed it, I don't see why pressing cmd+opt before dragging would interfere with any other new features in Sierra.
As noted above... "In Sierra you need to start dragging the item first, then press Command-Option."
I made a video showing it her: http://thedobberfiles.blogspot.com/2017/07/macos-1012-sierra-keyboard-commands.h tml
