Beats Studio 2 Wireless Noise Cancelling Not Working?

I purchased a pair of Beats Studio 2 Wireless headphones last year and earlier this month the hinge broke and I had them warrantied by Apple. I received the new pair earlier this past week and immediately noticed something different. The noise cancelling on my old set was great. I could hardly hear people when they were talking even with no music playing. I also couldn't hear other things going on around me such as a TV playing, car drives, etc. Now, with this new set, it's much worse. I can hear people talking almost clearly unless I play my music at 3/4 + volume. With the other set, I usually kept it at about half volume and they were great at cancelling outside noises. These ones, even at more than half volume, aren't even as good as those were with nothing playing. Any ideas what I should do? I have checked that they are up to date, and the Beats updater website says they are on the latest version. I have tried attaching them via the wire instead of wirelessly, no improvement. Not sure where to go from here.
