iOS wallpaper dimming

I saw this on another post, where it was labeled as solved. I am using iOS 10.2 iphone 6 and my wallpaper photos look horrible due to a reduction in white colors. Now this has been an issue on previous iOS'es where the photo was partially dimmed. Now it seems the whole photo is dimmed. It's quite like clipping pixel values above 225 or something, that is the lamest thing I have ever seen Apple has done. And it is sustained for ages.

Please put an option to switch this OFF. At least give us that control if you are unable to adaptively change other things according to our wallpaper choice.

This may very well be the dumbest feature and decision I've seen for the iPhone. About 55 out of my 60 wallpapers look like the one you have here. Drab. Overcast. Gloomy. Washed out and colorless no matter how bright or colorful your wallpaper is. What a fantastic feature to have if your intention is to make Android phones look more pleasing.
