How do I sync video with bluetooth audio?

I am using an IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter because the internal bluetooth of my macbook *****, it cuts out and everything sounds like a scratched CD. The IOGEAR usually works fine but sometimes the video is delayed, which is opposite of what most bluetooth devices do--delay the audio. Sometimes it is in sync, but sometimes when I hit play the audio starts and the video is frozen for a second or two and then plays delayed behind the audio. If I disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth/speaker connection it'll go in sync, but having to do that with each new video upload is very annoying. It worked fine when I first got it, then started delaying just on the first video but would continue in sync with new uploads but eventually went out of sync with each new upload. Then for no apparent reason it was working fine for a few weeks, but recently it has been delaying again. What may be causing this and how do I permanently stop it? It happens with any video player, netflix, youtube, quicktime, photo booth, vlc, etc.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), macOS Sierra (10.12.3)
