Macbook Crashes on Youtube/Twitter videos

My mac crashes on youtube and twitter videos. When i watch them, sometimes but not all the time.

Its a mac pro 2010 13" model. Recently had a replaced hard drive and battery so they shouldn't be the problem. It as also doing this before the computer got repaired.

When it froze the videos the macbook would just freeze completely but the audio from videos would still be heard, but all functions on the computer would stop. Force quit wouldn' work and the mouse would freeze.

When doing a hard restart to the computer turning back on would make the fans run instantly at 100%.

what's going on ? This happens only through twitter and youtube videos but only sometimes. not while watching videos directly through my computer and yes I have the latest version of flash installed with latest version of firefox. i have seen this question pop up which looks like a common issue with macbooks but so far have seen no solution.

Hello, SoniMan91.

I understand Youtube and Twitter videos are causing your MacBook Pro to crash. I have a few suggestions to help you here. Make sure your MacBook Pro is up-to-date. You've listed Firefox only, does this happen with other web browsers, like Safari?

I'd recommend starting in safe mode to see if the issue still persists. Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Also, check out this article as well, How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

These two steps will help determine if the issue is within the system software or user settings.

To address the fan issue, I would check to see if your fans are running when doing any activity on the MacBook Pro.

About the fans in your Mac

If the fans in your Mac run fast even when the computer isn't experiencing heavy usage and is properly ventilated, you might need to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac.

This may explain the fans turning on at full speed when you hard restart. Here's another great link to consider: Mac notebooks: Operating temperature

Let me know if this helps.
