Route multitrack audio from another app

I've had a little poke around the manual and software, but I can't see an obvious way to do this.

I want to send the (multi-channel) audio from another software app (Max) into Logic to record it (in this case, on 6 separate stereo tracks).

Is there a built in way to do this, or do I need to get a third party app to route the audio? (e.g. Loopback from RogueAmoeba, or Jack?)

thanks

Jack, SoundFlower, Loopback and others will all work for this but as I understand it, they can only do stereo - 2 tracks at a time. You'll have to check the info that comes with the software but the general idea is that once installed, these audio software programs show up as ins and outs in Logic. So basically, if you were trying to record from iTunes into Logic, you'd set iTunes output to Loopback (for example) and create a track in Logic using Loopback as the input. You may have to change your system sound settings and Logic's audio prefs. They're all a little different but that's the basic idea. If the software you're recording FROM supports rewire, that's a much better way to do it. You can take all 6 tracks at once in sync.

That I do not know. I would check the Max docs, their support page or maybe just do a google search for "rewire max logic" and see what comes up. If I remember correctly, the launch order of the rewire apps matters. One will be the host or master, probably Logic and there are some settings that have to be correct on both apps. I have seen rewire settings in the Logic prefs but never used it myself. I think the general idea is launch apps, assign Max outs to send to rewire and follow logic's sync/transport. In logic, enable rewire and set the inputs to pick up the outs from Max. Something like that... Sorry I can't be more help.
