Scam phone calls regarding iCloud security breach on landline

Who is calling saying there is a security breach on all my apple products that use iCloud? 5 calls this morning, one call every hour. Phone number calling is different from number they say to call 1-855-225-6553.

MY husband and I are 100% FED UP! I don't think Apple support calls their consumers. I've always had to call you.

I'm certainly not angry at Apple. Apple has been nothing but extremely helpful and always professional to me. I wanted to know if they or other consumers have been getting the latest scam. This is the first landline computer scam I've got saying it was an Apple product or iCloud. We have had our share of PC scams. Wish people would find a productive job where they actually were contributing to our society instead of doing these scams all day long. If thats a profession, they must have a ridiculous life. I contacted our Comcast phone/computer service and that number is now blocked. Ridiculous!

Unfortunately, these calls have been going around for quite sometime and you'll find a number of posts about them. They just dial numbers hoping to find a sucker. We all wish there was something someone could do about it.

They don't have your home landline. It costs nothing to call a number today. So they simply program their robodialer to call every phone number in an exchange: 555-555-0000 through 555-555-9999, then they go to 555-556-0000 and continue. They don't know that you have an Apple product; they just take a chance. I get calls regularly telling me I have a virus on my PC. I don't have a PC.

A very useful service, if your phone company supports it, is nomorobo.com If you have a VOIP landline you can set it up so nomorobo intercepts any calls that are on their banned list based on the caller ID. It's free. It won an FTC contest a few years ago to find a way to reduce spam calls.

They just released an iPhone app that does the same for iOS. It is not free; it's $1.99 a month, but worth it.

I think I'm going to download it right now.

July 21, 2017, we received three robo-calls about a security breach regarding our iCloud account. The caller-id was (973) 564-5813 (supposedly an Apple store in the Short Hills Mall, NJ). The call-back number was (877) 245-9677. Has anyone called either the caller-id or call-back numbers they were given to see what trash picks up? (P.S., I'm using this as a great opportunity to teach kids about scams and security.)
