A video capture device, EzCAP, w/a USB-RCA cable and a device on the cable, failed. I tried iMovie, iMovieHD, and QuickTime. The EzCAP worked in the past to import videocassette content to one of my vid programs to burn a DVD.
But it failed now. Somebody suggested the eyepiece must link to the Mini-DVI port.
I doubt you are going to get it to work on your iMac. Your electronic eyepiece is designed to work with
View live monochrome video images through telescope
Composite video port for sending image to TV, VCR, or camcorder (6-foot RCA cable included)
The system specifications say nothing about working with any computer, have you considered installing a new battery (9volt) in the eyepiece and connecting it your TV.
BTW, what is your goal?
Somebody suggested the eyepiece must link to the Mini-DVI port.
I doubt that, Mini-DVI is output only, no input.
As far as I can see, the EZcap is Windows only...

You could ask which of these is Mac compatible & has drivers for your OSX version...

Which exact device & specs?
2006 iMac iSight/OSX 10.6.8
Ports: Mini-DVI, Ethernet, USB 2, Firewire
Meade Electronic Eyepiece
Meade ETX-70 telescope. I believe the eyepiece is the only Meade eyepiece and maybe discontinued.
