usb 2.0 to ethernet adapter not working on Sierra

My ethernet port fried due to a thunderstorm power surge so purchased adapter.

It came with asix drivers AX88772B and A which would not load, probably not for Mac OSX Sierra so searched forums and downloaded and installed Asix latest drivers 88179 for USB3.0 to Ethernet.

Followed instructions and after install went to hardware USB showed driver installed but no mention of manufacturer just that component is there.

Went to Network in System preferences but no mention of USB Ethernet being installed .

Any ideas?

Hi,

Yes used those drivers.

What I had bought was a USB2.0 Ethernet adapter Model KY-RD9700 and it came with a CD of Asix drivers AX88772ALF, AX88772BLF, RD9700, TL9200 which were not compatible with Sierra hence thats why I used the latest drivers.

Am buying a new Adapter 3.0 USB/Ethernet that is backward compatible with 2.0 and driver free installation. If that does not work will try those latest Asix drivers.

May I pm you if the new dongle still gives me problems?

Mike.
