How can I scan a document form into pages and then fill out that form?

I have arthritis and carpel tunnel. Handwriting is very difficult. How can I scan a multi-page form into Pages (or another app, like Preview), and then fill out that form, and print it out, neatly typed and readable? I have tried this in the past, but was unsuccessful in aligning the blank portions with my input. There must be an easier way!

MackBook Air, Sierra 10.12.3. Pages 6.0.5.

Do you already have the document on your computer, or are you looking for the best way to scan a physical document into a computer for digital editing? If you already have the digital document, what format is it in (you can check this by right clicking on it, hitting "get info", clicking the triangle next to "general" to open the tab, and looking under "kind")?

You will have trouble aligning the scanned document with any overlaid text and keeping it square.

Many forms these days are downloadable pdf files, which you can fill in using Adobe Acrobat. At least those will be square fixing half the problem.
