Apple Support Failed - Refund Denied?
While checking the price of the Apple Music subscription so I could buy it over the summer, the "free trial" dialog popped up. I already had a free trial last summer, but I thought they might allow another after a year? I doubted it, but the dialog popped up, so I thought I'd try. At the next screen, it asked if I wanted to purchase the subscription for $-- or whatever the price was, so obviously, I couldn't get another free trial. However, I mis-clicked and accidentally subscribed. Within 5 minutes, and without listening to any music, I canceled the subscription and contacted apple support via chat. She said that the system would not let her refund it, and at the end said: "You can definitely contact our phone support team." So I did.
That same night, I emailed apple support, explaining my situation. I got an email that they would respond within 48 hours. After 6 days, they hadn't contacted me, so I emailed them again, and got the same email detailing a 48 hour response period. After more than 48 hours, about 57 hours, they finally replied, only to say they refused to refund me.
That's a total of 9 days and 2 hours of my paid subscription that I waited for them to at least respond that there was no way to fix the issue. That almost a third of the trial, and the entire time I didn't listen to any music or use the service at all because I didn't want to compromise a refund. When I replied to the last email asking why it took so long, the man simply stated "I apologize if the previous ticket you’ve created wasn’t addressed. We’ve checked our records and have confirmed that the same concern was raised through chat, and that the Advisor who assisted you with this matter close this request, ****, instead to avoid any confusion. Please be advised that we take emails seriously and needs to be resolved in less than 48 hours. I really am sorry that this happened." So, without contacting me, apple decided to close my issue, and not reply to my emails for support. And they obviously did not take my email seriously, because one wasn't replied to at all and one was replied to in over 48 hours...
I'm not very upset about the refund issue, although it really shouldn't be that complex to refund a misclick less than 5 minutes after it happens and without using the service. I am angry about the ridiculous amount of time they took to resolve my support question and the amount of my subscription wasted during that time.
I would like to know if anyone has had a similar experience, and if you think there is anyone else I could appeal to either get my trial extended or actually process the refund...thanks!
