Iphone SE & HP OfficeJet Pro 8610

Hello,

I am new to apple and I am having trouble getting stuff to print from my Iphone SE to an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610.

My Phone and Printer are on the same network and wireless is on and working.

Problem is the Iphone just does not see the printer.

I installed an old HP app on the iphone that is no longer supported and it did not see the printer even thou on same network. But it had an option to enter the printer ip which I did and was able to connect to.

But I can't print using the app as it is old.

How can i get the iphone to see the printer or enter the ip of it so I can print to it?

We have several computers in the house all Windows based and some are wireless and all print to the printer fine. But the Iphone just refuses to see the printer I have done complete restarts on the whole network/router and the printer and nothing works.

So is there and easy way such as an app or Iphone setting that will allow me to print to the HP printer?

AirPrint is on in the printer and in the iphone se.

Thanks in advance

Drauka

Greetings, Drauka.
Congratulations on your new iPhone SE. I see that you'd like to use AirPrint to print to your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, but the phone doesn't recognize the printer. Great job on the troubleshooting you've completed and I'll be happy to help.
Use AirPrint to print from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Get help if you can't print to your AirPrint Printer

Check these things if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found” or have issues printing:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, check that your device has the latest version of iOS and that the app you're printing from is up to date.
  • Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer model.
  • Connect your AirPrint printer to your network using a Wi-Fi network or Ethernet connection. AirPrint devices connected to the USB port of an Apple AirPort Base Station or AirPort Time Capsule, or to your computer using Bluetooth connection, can’t use AirPrint.
  • After you turn on your printer, wait a few minutes before you try to print. Some printers might take a minute or two after powering on before joining your network.

Connect an AirPrint printer to a Wi-Fi network -- The steps in this article may also help.

Let me know how that goes and take care!

You print from, and can only access, airprint printers from within apps themselves - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201311

Your printer is airprint compatible, so when using an app, you would just choose the options menu (box with upward arrow), then choose print and your airprint connected wifi printer should show up. There is no settings to tweak nor anything to enter - iOS uses bonjour to detect all airprint printers on the wifi network.

Hello,

Thanks for the fast reply to my issue, I really appreciate it.

I have tried everything you said and still I can not print to the printer.

I have tried a few different apps to test with and some apps see the printer.

Other apps do not see the printer but give option to enter ip of printer and when I enter IP the apps connect fine.

Anyways thanks for the help

Hello,

Thanks for the fast reply to my issue, I appreciate it.

I have tried to print from inside some apps and the printer will not show up.

For example I opened Safari and tried to print and no printer is listed.

I replied to another user and I got a couple apps to test with and some need me to enter the ip of the printer.

But Safari and others dont give option to enter ip.

Airprint is on and I printed all settings from the printer directly and confirmed everything is set correctly.

If I can not get it to work I can try one last option which is to email the pages to the printer.

My printer comes with its own email address so I can email it and then what I email is printed or so I am told.

The email address of the printer is on the printout of the printers settings so if all else fails I can try it that way.

Other wireless tablets (non-apple) and Wifi computers can see the printer and print fine, it is only the Iphone SE which is refusing to see it.

Anyways thanks again for the help

Hello,

Thanks for the fast reply.

I have powered down the router, Printer, computer and the iphone.

I then restarted them in this order First Router was turned on and I waited for 5 minutes till it does it boot process.

Then I turned Computer (Windows PC) after I logged in I then turned on the printer and it did self check and was ready to go.

And last I turned on Iphone SE and went into Safari and still the printer is not listed.

I have found a few stories yesterday about the Iphone SE having same problem for others but found no fixes listed. The stories were many months old when I found them yesterday night/early today.

I will keep trying to get it to work and if I have to there is an app on itunes that I could us but its around $30.00 for it.

It had a trial app that I tested and it did find and see my printer fine and even printed out a test page from my phone.

Thanks again for the help.
