iPhone does not receive any push notifications

Hi,

It's probably easier to describe what my iPhone 6 (current iOS) still does: phone calls, SMS, internet surfing with Safari. However

  • I am not able to connect to iCloud or iMessage,
  • do not receive any push notifications,
  • cannot read any emails,
  • the phone does not connect to my Apple Watch,
  • I am also not able to connect to, e.g., WhatsApp,
  • I cannot install any app updates - the circle fills, but at the end it tells me that the app cannot be downloaded.

Instead, the iPhone keeps asking for my iCloud password, my Apple ID password and my other email account passwords again and again. Furthermore, the phone is most of the time really slow in reacting to touches (especially after startup).

Has anyone experienced that behavior before and would have some hint how to solve this?

Best regards,

Matthias

You could do a force restart of your iPhone using the steps provided below ( a force restart will not delete any data. )

  • On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
  • On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Allow the iPhone to reboot then test to see if the issues have been resolved.

If not it might be time to backup, erase and restore your iPhone.

Thanks for the quick response. A force restart did not help. I also tried to reset all settings - to no avail. The next step will be - as suggested - to do a restore of my previous backup which I will be able to do ony in two days from now. It seems, until then I will have to live without my iPhone 😟.

I am not even able to connect the iPhone to my Mac. iTunes asks if I want to allow the connection, but then it displays an error message that it could not connect because of a "missing value". Is there any way to reset the phone without USB connection?
