iPad 1st Generation

I am concerned re: my old iPad that I use for reading only my books from Kindle nightly. I am unable to download & or connect with the iTunes store on my old iPad for whatever reason. I really would like to download the upgrade for Kindle on my old iPad since I use it all the time at night. When I try to log into Apple from my old iPad all I get is a spinning wheel. Can't connect from the old iPad. All my others, my big guy computer and my new iPad connect just fine and no problem. Thanks for any input & insight.

Hello Patti Enoch,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you are not able to login to the iTunes Store with your Apple ID. When you attempt to sign in you see a spinning wheel on the iPad screen. In a situation like this, I recommend first restarting your iPad. If the issue persists after restarting, the steps from the article below will provide you with further troubleshooting that addresses this type of issue:

Try double clicking the home button on your iPad to bring up the open apps list. Press and hold on the App Store icon until all icons start to shake, then press the ➖ in the corner to close it. Press the home button to close the App list.

Try opening the App Store App again.

If that does not work, Try resetting your iPad. No data should be lost. Hold down the home and power / sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds or until the Apple Logo shows up. Let the iPad restart, and try again.

FWIW, I just downloaded the Kindle App on my First gen iPad without any issues

Is your iOS version listed correct?

Your 2010 iPad is actually running iOS 5.01 and not iOS 5.1.1?

If true, to get to iOS 5.1.1, you would need to updated your iPad to iOS 5.1.1 over iTunes on a computer.

If your iPad is actually running iOS 5.1.1, whatever version of the Amazon Kindle app you are using now for iOS 5.1.1 is the only version for the 2010 iPad.

Newer versions of the Kindle app are for iOS 9 and later.

Good Luck to You!
