open email draft migrates to second laptop while I'm typing

Okay, so I'm sitting here working on an email for work on my MacBook Pro Mail program while partner is on MacBook Air in the same room. For the second time in as many days, the email I'm actively typing suddenly disappears from my screen and *opens the Mail program on his computer* and plops itself there, disappearing entirely from my Mail program.

Both computers are (obvs) registered to my appleid, but GOOD GRIEF.

Anybody have an idea why this is happening and how best to make it stop (preferably without having to uncouple either from my appleid)?

Okay, additional information: it appears that the guy accidentally stole it from my laptop by inadvertently (twice) landing on a visible Mail tab (with a little screen icon in its corner, obvs indicating program was on a different computer) while perusing all open tabs on his computer--- but I have no option to steal any of his tabs. Can anyone enlighten me on how/why some applications are so quickly transferable and how to amend this feature?
