Ringtones: Garage Band

Hi.

I hope this question isn't as stupid as it's making me feel.

I don't use GB, but am trying to create new ringtones and alerts.

I'm able to drag the desired sound file into GB and edit it. But I have not yet been able to figure out how to make PLAY stop when the playhead has reached the end of the sound. If I record a three-second tone, split a second off the end and delete the excess, then hit PLAY, GB seems to want to play the silence forever.

How do I make it stop playing at the two second mark as intended?

THANKS

Have you set the end-of-project marker?

There is a tiny triangle in the ruler marking the end of your project. This triangle may be hidden partially by the zoom slider. Zoom out all the way to be able to see it. Then try to grab it and drag it to the end of your region.

You could also click the button with the two chasing arrows to activate the cycle region. With the cycle region active, GarageBand will just cycle through the measures marked by the yellow cycle bar and only bounce this region when saving the ringtone.
