I have a new MacBook Pro with Sierra 10.12.3 I am trying to open / migrate my iPhoto library (iPhoto 09 version 8.1.2). I keep getting this message = Photos has detected inconsistencies in your library.
The iPhoto library works fine in my old MacBook that is running OS 10.6.8
I have done all the repairs that are listed when you option open iPhoto.

This may be indicating file ownership problems. Did you allow Photos to repair the library?
Since you are transferring the library to a different Mac with different user accounts, prepare the drive where you are copying the library over like described here:
Sharing photo libraries among multiple users - Apple Support
Setting the ignore Ownership flag will prevent permission and file ownership issues, when photos is trying to repair the library.

Here is what I have done.
On the old macBook running OS 10.6.8 I have done all repairs listed when you option open iPhoto.
B/U iPhoto in Time machine.
Copy iPhoto from the time machine external hard drive that is properly formatted to the pics folder in my new MacBook thats running OS 10.12.3
If I use get info on this copy of iPhotos it shows it is unlocked and that I have custom permissions to read and write.
If I option open Photos and choose iPhoto library Photos starts preparing library.
Photos starts preparing library and runs till 24% then the message = Photos has detected inconsistencies in your library pops up, and the only option is to quit.
I have also tried to click open the copy of iPhoto in the new Mac and the same exact thing happens.
I have tried drag iPhotos and drop on Photos, I get the same result but now I show a new Photos folder along with the original Photos folder in the pics folder.
If I choose this folder in Photos their is nothing in it.
If I click open this Photos folder here is a screen shot of what is in it.
Any ideas?
This copy of Time machine is for the old MacBook.
When I have it connected to the new MacBook , Time Machine does not open it, so restore is not a option.
Could you solve the problem by now? I have been traveling and could not get online for theist two weeks.
You can open Time Machine backups from other Macs using the Time Machine menu in the main menu bar. If you hold down the options key while clicking the Time Machine menulette, you will see the "Browse other backups" option:

You can not do that - you do not copy anything from the TM backup - you use the TM application to select what you want and then you restore it - Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support

Where is your library located? If it is on an external drive hen the drive MUST be formatted Mac OS extended Journaled and connected with a fast wired connection, not used as a TimeMachine backup volume and available prior to photos being launched

IS your iPhoto Library on your. time Machine drive part of the Time Machine backup or did you just store it on the same drive as your Time Machine drive? keeping an iPhoto Library one same drive as Time Machine is not a good idea, because Time Machine will take all available storage and it cannot back up data on the same drive.

I use a different hard drive for Time machine on the new MacBook.
I can navigate to the iPhoto library thats in the Time machine hard drive for the old MacBook and copy it to the new MacBook.
I could use Migration Assistant but it looks like it wants to migrate the complete pictures folder to a new user account on the new MacBook.
Am I missing something?
