The Apple Hardware Test freezes

Having pressed D on start up & started the hardware test successfully, it gets to around 90% done and then freezes/fails. Suggestions on what the issue might be? On restarting I get a Insecure Startup Item disabled.

Battery life is diminishing quickly (622 cycles used), fan constantly running despite very little processing, swapping apps takes several minutes very often. I have removed all the startup apps, moved everything I can to iCloud, and still not seeing any improvement.

Last week I attempted to run the Apple Hardware Test, but it freezes after about 2 minutes consistently. Then yesterday I reset the SMC, still no notable improvement. Also small things like my Mail app will not connect to the server anymore.

I am considering upgrading my SSD with an OWC product. Any thoughts or suggestions?

That is showing you have at least one adware that should be removed. It crashed on the 28th because of Corrupt Filesystem, so that should be repaired by restarting in Safe Mode, then regular mode, or by booting to Recovery and running Disk Utility > First Aid.

Many processes killed due to insufficient RAM. when there is not enough RAM, the additional RAM is simulated on disk, but you are getting very low on disk space as well. There is no work-around for too little RAM except to backup everything and go back to an older version Of MacOS that is not so RAM-hungry. A larger SSD may help a little.

You also are not showing a Trusted Backup. "Any drive can fail at any Time." By not having a backup, you are making a decision NOT to keep your documents and pictures. You need a second copy somewhere.
