iPhone not disconnecting from "call" on honda

My iPhone gets "in call" with my 2015 Honda Odyssey and refuses to "release". This used to only happen at the end of a call; the car would think I was still on a call, even though I pressed the hang-up button and the phone showed the call had ended, but the car would not go back to the radio. Yesterday this happened when I got in and started the car; I was not on a call, not using Siri or dictating a message, nothing that would be actively using the bluetooth. I turned the iPhone bluetooth off and back on, it went back to "in call". I turned the car off and back on, it went back to "in call". I had to restart the iPhone. I've been using the bluetooth in this car since I got it in 2 1/2 years ago; no changes to the car software but there obviously have been to iOS. Unfortunately I don't recall when it first started happening but I'm sure it was the last few months. I've reported it at apple.com/feedback as a bug, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and has a fix short of restarting the phone. I have and iPhone 6 with iOS 10.2.1.

Hi there, Ray!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with Bluetooth between your device and vehicle. Check out this article for steps to try to Get help connecting your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with your car stereo . Even though the title implies the inability to connect, these steps also help with issues after a connection is made. Feel free to skip the steps to restart the device as well.

If you're using Bluetooth

  1. Check your car stereo's user manual for how to pair with a Bluetooth device.
  2. On your iOS device, swipe up to open Control Center, then tapUser uploaded filetwice to turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Restart your iOS device.
  4. On your iOS device, unpair your car stereo. On your car's display, unpair your iOS device and any other devices. Restart your car and your iOS device, then pair and connect again.
  5. Update your iOS device.
  6. Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
  7. If you still can't connect, contact Apple Support.

Also, for step 6, you can contact your local Honda dealer for information about getting any firmware for the stereo itself.

Cheers!
