MacBook Pro Pink Vertical Lines on White Background
I have a 15" Mid 2010 MacBook Pro (MacBookPro6,2) that is starting to show pink vertical lines over any white background on the display. After reading a number of post here at the ASC with a similar issue, I see that it is somewhat common for the 2009-2011 models at this point in their life-cycle ... so I'm not at all too surprised. I understand this could be a number of things, including: 1) Faulty display, 2) faulty display cable, or a 3) faulty system board.
What I have tried to resolve it:
- Squeezing the area around the trackpad can sometimes resolve the issue, but not permanently.
- Reset SMC & NVRAM
- Create a new user account.
- Connected an external monitor. The display was fine.
I do have a few questions to help me decide, whether or not, it is worth trying to get it fixed:
- I know that only Apple can provide me with an "official" estimate for repairs based on what they find, but for those of you that have had this issue and got it repaired by Apple, what was the rough costs that you experienced doing so?
- Since the nearest Apple Store is hundreds of miles away from me, have any of you shipped your MacBook Pro to Apple and, if so, can provide me with any issues that I should be aware of going about using this method?
Thanks for any insights or advice on this matter. I really appreciate it.
