What is this icon?

On start up and waking from sleep, I get a Notepad/Brush/Pencil/Ruler icon that says it needs internet to work? I can't work out what it refers to? I tend to just hit ok and move on, but it is quite annoying. A month or so ago, I went through a stage of downloading a bunch of applications. Have I picked up a bug?User uploaded file

The image provided only seems to direct to something called Core Telephony. However all related images returned actually specify this in the error message whereas your's provides no specific app. Does the noted app sound at all familiar or if you try searching it using Spotlight on your Mac do you get any returns?

Icon and dialogue box still came up when I opened the computer just now after work"

do this vpn start on its own?

Is it in SystemPreferences->Users&Groups->LoginItems? if so remove the entry with the minus sign underneath. If it is not there in Finder go to StartupDisk->Library->StartupItems folder, remove it there if it is there, or

StartupDisk->System->Library->StartupItems.

Restart after this and see if it starts automatically.

You then have to start the vpn by hand, when you want to use it.

I think that the issue is that it opens the dialog box automatically, perhaps you can change that in the settings...
