GoPro Video GPS GeoLocation

The GPS position metadata encoded in my GoPro's .MP4 videos is not read by Photos.

Using exiftool, I was able to verify the files contain "Quicktime:Location:GPS Coordinates" data, just like videos recorded with my iPhone which display the location perfectly in Photos.

How do I make Photos for Mac able to read this metadata?

I changed the container of a file from MP4 to MOV and Photos now sees the geotagging data.

Seems like a inability of Photos for Mac to read MP4 metadata 😟
