Fixing alarm and ring vibrating only issue
I'm not sure exactly when this issue started, I want to say within the last 3-4 months at most.
The problem: I had alarms, as well as timers, set and when they go off (and phone is locked) the phone only vibrates, no sound. The same issue was happening when a phone call comes in; the phone would vibrate but not actually ring. The only time the phone would make the alarm sound or ringtone was when the phone was unlocked and in use.
Troubleshooting steps taken: I verified that the phone is not on silent and Do Not Disturb is not turned on. I verified the volume was turned up. Under sounds, I have Vibrate on Ring and on Silent both turned on and the Ring and Alerts slider was set but when I adjusted the slider, the phone would not play the sound of the ringtone like it used to. I verified that all Sounds and Vibration patterns were set to the correct options as well. Nothing I did seemed to be working. Finally I turned the phone off and back on and also did a hard reset, still nothing worked.
Today I seem to have resolved the issue inadvertently while trying to fix an issue with music playing via bluetooth in car with cellular data turned off.- Note, I am not, nor have I have ever been, signed up for iTunes match or Apple Music.
I signed out of both my AppleIDs for Home Sharing (under music) and iTunes & App Stores, then turned the phone off normally and back on. When I checked, the library didn't show. I signed back into each one, one at a time to determine which was the issue, it was iTunes & App Stores, so I left that one signed out. After doing this, I had my friend call my phone and it rang without issue like it was supposed to. I have verified that both alarms and timers now go off and make noise like as well.
I am not sure what kind of bug it was, but this seemed to have fixed the problem. Curious if anyone else has this issue and what was done to fix it (hopefully permanently.)
