Can I use Airport Express in bridge mode to connect an HP desktop (ethernet only) to the internet?

HI

We've just inherited an HP Pavillion with Windows 7 (for my sins as I have a MacBook air and will always be a mac girl)

but anyway, the HP desktop needs to get onto our home wifi.

Problem is it is our study which only has 2 UK power cables and it is ethernet only, sigh.

Our router is 3 rooms away.

By coincidence we started using an Airport Express 1 month ago, brand new.

I googled how to get ethernet only to wifi, and it seems our airport express may help, in 'bridge mode'

Is this right? and it won't interfere with my MacBook air's wifi?

Any light anyone can shed on this would be great for a non techie like me.

Hoping we aren't lumbered with a no internet PC.

Thanks, 🙂

If you start using the airport as a wireless client (Apple term for what is more commonly known as wireless to ethernet bridge) then whatever task you have it doing now won't work.

I am assuming your main wireless router .. the one 3 rooms away is supplied by your ISP and hence, not Apple.

The airport is no longer going to do anything other than act as a bridge ..

What do you use it for now??
