Stuck on Creating a Partition Map

I was erasing my sister's eMac to get ready for sale, and I attempted to secure erase the hard drive using 8 passes with the original software DVDs that came with the machine. I was about 1/4 the way done on Friday and left out of town for the weekend. When I got back today, there is a spinning beachball and the progress bar is about half way. It says "Creating a Partition Map".

What do I need to do to get out of it and should I do another secure erase using 1 pass since I'm not sure how far it got with the 8 passes?

When the eMac has been restarted with new system ~ and tested prior

to selling (anonymize Admin User Account + provide PW to new owner)

...details may need attention. Replace Clock-PRAM battery.

An example:

• NewerTech 3.6v Lithium 1/2 AA PRAM Computer Clock Battery

eMac G4 - info links from owc:

Install Videos

The original system + software from grey-label as-shipped media discs

should be OK, if that's what you have; some also include a later OS X

install (retail disc) for 'last supported OS X' in the PPC hardware series.

{If eMac is early model 700MHz the last OS X would be Tiger 10.4.11.}
