My phone is currently broken and I am waiting a few days to get a new one. I'm the meantime, I purchased an iPad to survive. Is there a way I can add my phone number to send/receive iMessages without my iPhone?
Hi. The iPad can only send/receive SMS messages by relaying them through a phone, since only the phone has a telephone contract. If your iPhone is not working, you cannot do this. You can only send iMessages to other Apple users using their Apple IDs.

Try going to Settings/Messages/Send & Receive/Add Another E-mail and then enter the telephone number +1 (area code)number. Adopt if require for your country.
