CarPlay: Radio apps don't resume after call (or Siri)

Some background to the issue. I was previously had a non-CarPlay head unit and used Apple Maps with a Radio App (e.g. Radio SG or TuneIn). Whenever I used Siri or took a call, the radio would "pause" for the duration and resume automatically after the call. However, once I upgraded my head unit to CarPlay, the Radio App doesn't resume play but instead sits idle until I have to manually press play after a call (or using Siri).

Is there a setting or configuration that I need to do to enable auto resume under CarPlay?

My CarPlay worked fine until IOS 11.

Now sometimes i have to plug in the phone and unplug it t get it to work.

In the past all i had to do was press the on screen home button now that doesn't work.

In fact none of the on screen icons work, i have to tell Siri to play my music. I have restarted and replaced the lightning cord and that didnt help. I checked all my settings and they are where they are supposed to be.

Again no problems until IOS 11

I am having the same issue as well. CarPlay stops working after call, answered or not. I have to completely disconnect from CarPlay and reconnect the get the music to resume. Very frustrating.

Same experience. Radio is muted after a mesage from phone, but will not automatically be unmuted after message.

I am having the same exact issue. This was not an issue with my iPhone 6 Plus but just started when I connected with an iPhone 8. Very irritating glitch!

Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for the link. However, all it had was how to connect to CarPlay. My issue is that my music apps (i.e. online streaming radio apps) don't resume playing after a call or interaction with Siri.
