I today tried to open my iTunes app on the mac and got the following error message. 'The installed version of Fairplay is not compatible with this version on iTunes. Please reinstall iTunes' and thereafter 'An unknown error occured (-42037)'..
Now I already have the most current iTunes 12.6.
How to I go about reinstalling iTunes?

I had reinstall iTunes and it worked for 2 hours. I´m very disapointed because my datas are lost on PC. I thought to by a new pc but now I know it will not be an apple. I´m fine to protect rights. But I´m angry losing my legal data´s. Apple didn´t find the right way.
Problem solved by - downloading iTunes from the downloads section and installing again. Works fine afterwords. Didn't need to delete/remove previous version.

Yep go to the link in the first reply and download itunes again from the downloads page and it will sort it.
