Missing driver to Philips quad hd monitor

Missing driver to Philips quad hd monitor 😢

______

Replay fro Philips:

Apple has apparently decided to remove the higher resolutions from their generic monitor driver. Philips monitors used just with the generic driver, so there is not much we can do from here.

What happens in practice is that the computer / video card via the signal cable gets information from the monitor about which solutions to cope. The generic driver provides this potential to the user, in so far as the video card can provide the solutions.

So what causes the driver not to find a match between all monitor resolutions and video card ditto, is not something we can answer - it's only Apple that does it.

As this affects many of our customers, we are in the process of finding an explanation - and hopefully a solution. So far there is nothing you can do than to contact Apple with the desire for an updated driver, alternatively their help in debugging.

This is an international, voluntary user-to-user support community. Apple product management and engineers do not participate here.

That said, if Philips continues to proclaim that this monitor is (generically) Mac OS X compatible in their updated 02/2017 leaflet, then it is their responsibility to test it with new releases of OS X/macOS to ensure that their claim remains supportable. It is not Apple's responsibility to support every third-party monitor, especially those that appear to have a true target market of WIndows 7, 8, and 10, based on the availability of Philips drivers for these operating systems.

In the System Preferences : Displays panel, have you checked the available scaled resolutions that are available when this monitor is connected? If this isn't a solution, then you have a Windows monitor, as it is a sure bet that Apple is not going to revise their display code to add support for one Philips monitor.

In case I am wrong, you can provide feedback to the macOS development team.
