How do I burn an .img file to dvd? (from Final Cut Pro)

I am running Sierra and I tried to burn a dvd from Final Cut Pro. It used to go through the process and ask me to insert a disk when the video was ready to burn. Now my only option is to send the file onto my desktop as an .img file. I have tried to control-click on the created .img file, but the option for "burn" is not showing up.

Anyone have a solution?

If your only option in FCP X is to create an .img file -meaning that the only device available is the hard drive - AND in the Finder you do not get an option to Burn when you control-click, this all suggests your mac is not seeing a DVD burner.

If you do have connected, and insert a blank drive, does your mac respond to it? Normally it should put up a dialog asking you what to do (eject, mount in Finder or ignore). If nothing happens then your drive is perhaps not being recognized.
