Using airpods to do transcription

I would like to use my AirPods to do transcription from my iPhone of MacBook air. Does anyone know if this is possible. Mainly, is it possible to stop and start the playback by voice command? Thank you

I was grateful to see your comment. So far, it's been the only post that reinforces my problem with the Airpods. Although I generally like them, I can't use them to do any sort of audio editing on my Macbook—which is, in many ways, similar to transcription. Almost every time I stop and start the audio, I lose playback audio for up to 20 seconds. The audio is playing correctly, and when I'm using the Macbook's external speakers, the problem doesn't occur. It's also neither the fault of the AirPods BT connection dropping, nor the sound editing software I'm using, because the exact same problem happens with the Airpods no matter how I play the sound file—whether in Audacity, Garageband, iTunes, or even the OS finder preview window itself. Frustrating.

Does anyone know WHY this happens, and whether it SHOULD be happening? Can anyone suggest what CAN be done to make Airpods usable for transcription and sound editing projects? I'd be grateful for any advice and look forward to your responses.
